iOS only gives the name of the Wi-Fi network to apps that may use the location. Pingscape needs the permission for that one reason. It does not read, use or store your location. Without it, everything else still works and the Wi-Fi name is just missing.

To list the devices on your network and to ask your router about itself. iOS asks once, when you first tap “Search” in the LAN tab. If you said no, turn it on under Settings → Pingscape.

Devices are found when they answer a ping or announce themselves over Bonjour. Some devices do not answer a ping (for example phones in standby, or devices behind a firewall). The “Thorough” mode also tries a few ports on such devices and catches some more. Pingscape does not guess devices it cannot see.

A VPN that carries all traffic often cuts your device off from the local network. Pingscape shows a note when this is the case.

It hides addresses and network names (Wi-Fi name, IP addresses, subnet mask, gateway, DNS, MAC addresses, device names) on screen and in shared reports, so you can share a screenshot. Long-press a single value to copy the real one.

By default none. The privacy page lists every request, and each one starts only when you allow or start it.

Yes. Network information there is that of the iPad. The Wi-Fi name and cellular details depend on what the device has and allows.

Pingscape shows only what iOS delivers. If iOS does not tell an app something (for example the signal strength of Wi-Fi, or the carrier name), Pingscape has no such row rather than a guess.
